If your original gauge cluster fails or you need to replace it for another reason, it is important to program the correct digital mileage back into the unit. The vehicle’s miles are usually stored inside the gauge cluster. Having inaccurate digital odometer mileage can negatively affect the resale price of your vehicle and also show up as a red mark on a vehicle history check or registration renewal. Be aware that typically mileage will be within +/- 200 miles of the requested. This is due to hexadecimal, memory, and mathematical limitations on how manufacturers code the mileage into the chip.  Exact mileage typically will not happen.

We typically do NOT do BMW, Audi, or Mercedes odometer reprogramming due to the complexity and rampant fraud in the used car market. If you are a local customer that can come to us with one of these makes please let us know and we can determine what can or can’t be done. We will not take mail-in items on these brands.

IS THIS ODOMETER CORRECTION SERVICE LEGAL?

Local laws vary by state, however, it is legal to correct digital odometer mileage as long as you follow the laws, disclosure, and regulations. Odometer mileage can only be corrected to reflect the actual miles on the vehicle. You can not willingly and knowingly reduce odometer mileage for any reason. You can set odometer mileage to 0. In this event, you must place an approved sticker in your door jamb stating the reason for correction to 0. You will need to complete our odometer correction form and send it along with your speedometer.

Wisconsin State Statute information, your state may vary:

Odometers may be repaired or replaced if they become defective or malfunction. If a vehicle is driven
between the time the odometer malfunctions and the time the odometer is repaired or replaced, the
seller may disclose that the odometer reading reflects the “actual” mileage only when all three of the
following guidelines can be met:
1 Repair or replacement is made within 30 days of the date the malfunction occurred
2 A reasonably accurate determination can be made of the miles traveled since the malfunction
occurred
3 The repaired or replaced odometer is calibrated to show the mileage reading which was on the
odometer at the time it malfunctioned plus the number of miles the vehicle was driven between
the time of the odometer’s malfunction and the time of the repair or replacement
When it is impossible to reset the reading on the repaired or replacement odometer:
4 Set the mileage reading to “zero”
5 Place a sticker on the left door frame of the vehicle specifying the mileage reading before the
repairs and the date on which the odometer was repaired or replaced
6 The odometer statement must say “not actual” mileage
