Starting at $1499, Tanin Auto Electronix will cater to your vehicle wiring needs. Our base price includes 10 hours of project planning and wiring labor. We can complete ground up vehicle wiring projects, basic repairs, or simple engine wiring harness tuck jobs. Wiring tuck projects are popular because it hides visible wiring harnesses and plugs as much as possible. The lack of visible wiring makes for a very clean and visually appealing engine bay.
The main image in our gallery was the engine bay wiring mess in a 1966 Ford Galaxie dropped off at our Racine, Wisconsin location.
Sure the car started, ran and drove to our shop, but was not acceptable to our standards. Loose wiring like this can also create a safety hazard. For this project we had to perform a full engine bay re-wire before we even started the actual instrument cluster project. The customer initially wanted a Dakota Digital dashboard wired in. We can’t use bad wiring, connections, or hook up a dashboard control box if there isn’t any wiring infrastructure in place. Over the course of the next several weeks we re-wired the entire engine bay, fixed multiple major issues, and most importantly made everything safe. We created a ground and power wiring network complete with a fuse box. We rewired the engine fan circuit to properly run and trigger through the new fuse box. Finally we installed the digital dash gauges and also calibrated them for the customer.
The Galaxie took approximately 30-40 hours to complete. It’s not uncommon to start from the ground up on projects like these due to the inexperience of the owner, prior installation attempts, or simply the complexity of electrical knowledge and wiring.
This Ford Galaxie project included:
- Research and planning the scope of the project, supplies needed, and scheduling the work
- Installing the various sensors for the Dakota Digital Dash
- Installing the interior fuse box and grounding block
- Power and ground from the battery to the interior fuse block and all fuse block outputs
- Re-wiring existing temporary wires that fed the cooling fan and relay, electric choke, distributor, starter trigger wire, main power and ground wires from the battery to an engine bay junction and fuse block, fuel tank sending unit, and more wiring clean up.
- Fabric or plastic wiring loom, Tesa tape and heat shrink crimp connectors
